I got tired of opening DevTools 40 times a day, so I built a floating toolkit for every tab

Be honest: how many times today did you do one of these?

  • Resize the browser window just to check a breakpoint
  • Open the Application tab to find one localStorage key
  • Scroll through 300 Swagger endpoints looking for a single POST
  • Fill the same signup form with fake data. Again.

I'm a frontend tech lead, and I did all of that every single day. So on nights and weekends I built DX Toolkit 🚀, a free Chrome extension that puts a slim floating bar on every tab, with the tools I kept wishing the browser had.

What's inside

  • 📦 Storage Scout: Browse and edit localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies and IndexedDB with syntax highlighting.
  • ⚡ Swagger Seeker: Filter OpenAPI endpoints by method or keyword, and download the raw spec.
  • 📱 Viewport Viewer: Preview mobile, tablet and 4K/8K TV sizes without touching your window.
  • 📝 Form Factory (new in v7): Outlines every input on the page and fills them in one click, from a saved test profile or random data.
  • 🎨 Palette Probe, Outline Hunter, Vision Validator, Routing Report, PERT Planner and more.

The boring-but-important part

No tracking, no analytics, no remote calls. Everything runs client-side.
Manifest V3, content-script only. No background service worker, and the only permission is storage. Shadow DOM isolation. The host page's CSS and JS can't break it, and it can't break them. Settings Sync keeps your setup the same on every Chrome you're signed in to.

500 installs

With no ads and no marketing budget, it just passed 500 installs. Thank you to everyone who tried it.

👉 DX Toolkit on the Chrome Web Store

It's still a humble attempt to redefine the WebDev experience, and I want your honest feedback. Which tool do you wish your browser had? Tell me in the comments and it might be in the next release.

Thank you for your time 😇
