OH NO. ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE POSTS. Don't worry, none of these providers paid me to write this. As the founder of a small cloud hosting provider (sliplane.io), I've been doing a lot of research on the best VPS providers that we can partner with. And in the process, I've found and used easily 50+ different providers, today I want to share with you 5 of my favorites if you are looking for a cheap VPS.
1. Hetzner
Hetzner should be a name that rings a bell for most people, since they are really having a boom in the last year or so. They are a german company that has been around for a long time and are known for their good prices with locations in Germany, Finland, and since recently also in the US and Singapore.
The cheapest VPS is an ARM based one with 2vCPU, 4GB RAM, 20GB NVMe, and 20TB traffic for only €3.29/month if you don't need an IPV4 address.
The only downside is that they don't accept everyone, especially if youre not from the EU without a business account. They might require you to send them a passport scan or something similar.

2. Contabo
Contabo is another german company (see a trend here?) that has been around for a long time and is known for their crazy prices. They are a bit less known than Hetzner, but they have a really good reputation and are a good choice if you are looking for a super cheap VPS.
Warning: The UI is really outdated and not user friendly at all. Can't have everything eh?
Anyway, the cheapest plan is €4.5/month and includes 4vCPU, 6GB RAM, 100GB NVMe, and 32TB traffic. Truly crazy prices!
3. Netcup
Continuing our trend of German providers, Netcup is another good option. They've been in the hosting business since 2008 and have built a solid reputation for reliability and value. Fun fact: they are so old that they have a FAX number!
Their cheapest plan is €3.35/month and includes 2vCPU, 2GB RAM, and a 64GB SSD. Pretty solid, just the availability of 99,6 % is a bit scary (thats like 1-2 days of downtime a year).
They also offer a bunch of other services like managed webhosting that might be useful if you are just starting out.
4. RackNerd
The first provider that is not German (woohooo?) is RackNerd. I was really torn if I should include RackNerd in this list, since they really only have one good VPS. But they are so cheap that I couldn't leave them out.
RackNerd offers a VPS for $22.99 /year with 512MB RAM, 1 CPU Core and 15 GB SDD. That is less than 2$ a month! Just make sure to not upgrade your server, because the prices will skyrocket.
5. V6Node
V6Node is by far the smallest provider on this list and are just getting started. Their deal is that they don't give you an IPV4 address to save money. That enables them to offer cheaper prices than Hetzner, with 2vCPU, 4GB RAM, and 40GB NVMe for only €4.49/month (cheaper if you consider the price per cpu/gb memory of course). Not having IPv4 isnt a big deal if you only want to host HTTP/HTTPS services, because they also give you a reverse proxy out of the box. So everything will still be accessible via IPv4!
