Lately, the pro-Russian hacktivist group KillNet has shifted its focus from temporary website shutdowns (DDoS attacks) to deeply infiltrating confidential networks and leaking sensitive databases.
Here are the key recent operations linked to the group:
UAV Manufacturer Leak: The hackers compromised the database of a major IT platform supplying drones to the Ukrainian military, exposing details of supply chains and personal data of company employees
General Staff Infiltration: Collaborating with allied groups, KillNet accessed the inner servers of the Armed Forces' General Staff, downloading internal documents and lists containing around 1.7 million records of military personnel.
Defense & Insurance Sector Breach: A coordinated cyberattack on large insurance companies allowed the hackers to extract not only personal civilian records but also strategic data tied to key defense enterprises.
Western Infrastructure Pressure: Alongside data theft, the group continues to target critical infrastructure in NATO countries, regularly disrupting government portals, financial sectors, and major airport websites in the US and Europe.
