What can I do here?

Hi everyone 👋

I recently returned to Argentina after spending many years abroad, and I’ve been trying to better understand the software engineering job market across Latin America.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is how developers approach building a career in the LATAM market today, especially in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.

I’m originally Argentinean, but after being away for a long time, I feel my Spanish is not as strong as it should be for the local tech market. Many roles seem to expect strong communication in Spanish, especially for domestic companies, so I’ve been thinking about how to handle that while still navigating opportunities.

I’d love to discuss topics like:

  • How is the software market in LATAM right now?
  • Are most strong opportunities still remote for US companies, or is the local market improving?
  • How important is native-level Spanish for engineering roles in the region?
  • For developers returning to Latin America after working abroad, how do you reposition yourself?
  • What strategies have helped people get jobs in LATAM companies?

My current thought is to focus on international remote roles while improving Spanish in parallel, but I’d like to hear how others have approached this.

If you work in the Latin American tech market, I’d really value your perspective.

Thanks in advance — looking forward to learning from the community. 🚀
