Day 3: Holiday Notes That Don’t Get Lost (Note Taker) 🗒️

It’s Day 3 of 12 Days of Svelte Apps 🎄

Holiday season is basically a memory test:

  • gift ideas
  • card messages
  • recipes and substitutions
  • travel details
  • “what was that link again?”

Today’s featured mini-app solves that in the cleanest way possible: Note Taker — a simple, fast place to capture notes without burying them in a pile.

The holiday notes system (that actually sticks)

If you only do one thing, do this:

1) One note per person

Create a note per person and treat it like a tiny “gift profile”:

  • Gift Ideas — Mom
  • Gift Ideas — Dad
  • Gift Ideas — Partner

Then paste everything inside it:

  • sizes, colors, preferences
  • product links
  • reminders like “already owns this”

2) One note for cards + messages

Write card drafts when inspiration hits (not when you’re standing over a blank card with a pen).

  • save a few variants
  • tweak later
  • copy/paste when you’re ready

3) One note for food

Use one note as a cooking scratchpad:

  • timings you adjusted
  • substitutions that worked
  • “next time: double the sauce”

Little features that matter

Search your notes (title + content)

Once you’ve written a bunch of notes, finding them quickly is everything. The app includes a search box that filters notes by title or content, so “scarf” or “cinnamon” gets you to the right place fast.

Optional sync if you’re signed in

If you’re logged in, you’ll see a manual sync button. The app also schedules sync attempts intelligently (only when you’re online and the tab is visible), so it doesn’t spam requests in the background.

Quick starter templates

Paste these into your first notes:

Gift Ideas — Alex

  • Idea: wool scarf (green)
  • Size: one-size
  • Link: …
  • Backup: candle set

Holiday Inbox

  • “Grandma likes peppermint bark”
  • “Find wrapping paper that matches”
  • “Remember: batteries”

Wrap-up

Simple structure beats complicated systems — especially in December.

Tomorrow we’ll go deeper into planning workflows with a Markdown Editor.
