Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of discussions about AI and its growing role in software development. I want to share my personal thoughts and experience on this.
Yes, today you can create websites — even single-page applications (SPAs) using AI tools like DeepSeek or Gemini. I’ve tested them myself, and AI can produce clean landing pages and useful code ideas. But when it comes to meeting specific client or company requirements, it often falls short.
Web Development Is More Than Just Design
It also includes:
1) Frontend features (e.g., real-time search, dynamic data visualization, advanced animations, interactive UI components.
2) Backend functionality (e.g., APIs, authentication, database integration)
3) Custom logic that matches unique project needs
AI can assist in these areas, but the results usually need a developer’s expertise to refine and adapt.
Why Developers Should Embrace AI
That’s why I believe developers should embrace AI as a tool and focus on skills like:
1) AI Automation
2) AI Prompt Engineering
3) AI Integrations
The key is learning how to integrate AI into your projects and control its behavior so it works exactly the way you want.
How I See AI Being Most Useful
When you already know how to build something
For example, you know how to code a contact form. Instead of typing everything by hand, you can let AI generate the basic structure to save time. You still understand the code and can make any changes needed. When you don’t know exactly how to build something
In this case, my advice is: don’t start by asking AI directly. First, try to write the code yourself, even if it’s incomplete or incorrect. Then, give it to AI and say: “I tried this — can you correct or complete it?”
This way, you keep learning, build confidence, and understand what AI is changing instead of blindly accepting code from scratch.
A tech enthusiast without coding skills might generate a website with AI, but when it comes to complex customizations, a developer’s expertise will always be essential.
Final Thoughts
AI can make you faster, but your creativity, logic, and problem-solving are what truly define you as a developer. The smartest move is to use AI as your partner, not your replacement.
💡 For developers, AI isn’t a threat — it’s an opportunity. Keep building your skills, explore AI’s capabilities, and make it a valuable ally in your development journey.
💬 I’d love to hear your perspective — how do you see AI fitting into your development workflow? Do you use it the same way I do, or differently? Let’s exchange ideas and learn from each other.
