How to claim your Hacktoberfest completion badge

Update 12/4

We identified the root cause of the unexpected error messages and released a fix for it on 12/3 (PR #11735).

Badge Awarding Might Not Be Instant: Subscribing here is the first step where we get your consent to check your completion status with the team from DigitalOcean. We anticipate awarding badges within 1-2 business days from receiving your subscription below.


As you might already know, if you participated in the Hacktoberfest challenge, you are eligible to receive a limited-edition completion badge on your DEV profile ✨

We know how hard you’ve worked to earn this important badge of recognition, and we appreciate your patience as we worked with DigitalOcean to arrive at the most secure way to collect the info we need to award these badges.

Here’s how to claim your official Hacktoberfest completion badge

For existing DEV members

  1. Ensure that the GitHub account you used for Hacktoberfest matches the GitHub account associated with your DEV profile (you can confirm this at /settings/account )
  2. Read our terms for claiming your badge below
  3. Opt-in for your badge by clicking SUBSCRIBE below.
  4. Keep an eye on your inbox and DEV profile to see your awarded Hacktoberfest completion profile badge

For new DEV members

  1. Sign up for a profile at dev.to/enter using the same GitHub account you used to participate in Hacktoberfest
  2. Read our terms for claiming your badge below
  3. Opt-in for your badge by clicking SUBSCRIBE below.
  4. Keep an eye on your inbox and DEV profile to see your awarded Hacktoberfest completion profile badge.

We are in the process of generating the GitHub usernames of "subscribers" to this post, which we'll use to cross-reference against the verified "finisher" list with DigitalOcean. We will award all badges within 1-2 business days (usually sooner) after receiving your subscription.

I am from India, I didn't get the tracking ID yet. My friends from India have got the swags. When will I get my swags? I will get my swags or not? I have sent a mail to kotis design but they didn't respond back, what should I do?

I have still not received the swag, so I contact them on "customerservice@kotisdesign.com" then they replied. And now I am getting my swag.

Hi Gracie,

Its been 3 months and I have still not received my swag. Contacted DHL tracker and they said that hacktober team has to raise track and trace request. I am from India and status has not been updated since November 13th 2020. Please help. Kotis design is not helping me in any way!!!

If you have already ordered your swag, we are continuing to ship out the T-shirts over the next month, however, given the global health pandemic, this may take longer than expected. Please have patience in waiting for them to ship.

Once shipped, swag is expected to take 8 - 12 weeks, or more, to arrive given the current global health pandemic. No updates on the tracking link provided for long periods at a time is to be expected and is completely normal. We ask that you have patience in waiting for your swag to arrive.

My package was shipped on 11th November. I received it on 7th December. Yeah, I got a mail to track the package on DHL's website. There, they'll give you a "Delivery by Postal provider" number which you can use to track your package via Speed Post. It's basically a speed post tracking number

Its going to be the end of this year and I have still not received any update from DHL courier tracking service about my HacktoberFest goodies. The last update was November 13th 2020 after that nothing was communicated.
Please can anyone help me what should I do here. Can you please provide email id so that I can forward my tracking number so that this gets resolved.

PS:- I am from India.
