Unfortunately in real life it doesn't work like that. I mean, trust is not the key to this engine. Not at all sometimes. You can watch The Consultant starring Christoph Waltz to get more insights on what really works. It's quite simple and prosaic in fact.
At my employee in recent years one of the Culture Phrases, was "Trust First"
Which is good... however more often than should have been, people forgot about what that word "First" meant. It means, do this first, then something else when it doesn't work. They interpreted as "Trust Only" and that lead to issues where there was no clear path forward when the trust part didn't work out. Usually a quick reminder that after trust, you verify and the solve for the issue when trust is NOT a given.
Another phrase we use in the household is "Trust, but verify"
Trust is a critical component in leadership, especially in environments where you're not working in the same room.
Without trust, you have significantly higher odds that employees will "go rouge" aka do what they think they should be doing instead of what you may want them to do.
Trust is essential in every team. Everyone should trust one another. If you trust someone with something, they will do their best. Whether you achieve your goal or not, trusting the team brings out the best in them, and it will undoubtedly help.
