Hey DEV Community! I'm here to share an exciting announcement with you ๐ฃ๏ธ
Introducing...Community Wellness Badges!
We're excited to rol...
For further actions, you may consider blocking this person and/or reporting abuse
Fun to see folks excited about this already ๐
We're really focused on spurning on healthy discussions, and focusing on quality of overall site interactions. We hope this is a nice nudge to find the time to leave a constructive comment whenever you find yourself on the site.
Happy commentings!
I Also received mine last week ๐๐
So did I. It's really nice to get kind feedbacks
Super excited ๐ฅณ
Here for this!
It was a very nice surprise to get the 1 week badge the other day. This is a good ideal from the DEV team.
I'm not sure how, I thought that I missed 1 week at some point aka 4 Oct: I only have 1 single comment. ๐ค
But I guess that it's computed a bit differently!
Anyway, I still got it! ๐ช๐ป
Quite happy that I could have helped some new writers + gave feedback on other posts. ๐
I hope it was helpful to all the bloggers, tried my best providing constructive feedback. ๐๐ป
Great pokemon collection. Gotta catch em all.
This is an awesome idea! I'm going to get all the badges ๐
I just received two of them
Love this idea. Gamify constructive criticism! This is one of the friendliest communities I've seen. The work you're doing is paying off. Keep up the good work, staff! โ๏ธ
It would seem that the act of sharing such a constructive comment in and by itself has been rewarding enough so far.
Curious to see if this'll lead to any shift in comment content or quality, and whether we might see some sort of "changing of the guards" with comment authors.
@ben If at all possible, it'd be cool if you could share some numbers on this in a month or so!
Yeah, we could definitely share something ๐. We don't know scientifically what improvements will happen, and it will be hard to isolate variables โ but I like the idea of digging in and sharing whatever the most relevant results we can come up with are in a month or so.
Back in the phpBB forum days I've seen the addition of karma systems result in large shifts of active contributors more than once. Recalling those times prompted my ask :)
The karma feature those boards added appeared to have been enough of an incentive for some "lurkers" or more quiet members to crawl out of their shell and start participating, but then also it caused some of the regulars to leave (which could be attributable to the addition of this carrot-on-a-stick, the sudden change in people/content, or an infinite amount of other things).
In most cases the communities ended up neither better or worse than before, but rather they simply changed or evolved into some sort of new rendition of themselves.
I've seen this before too. People hunting for likes or points without actually contributing much except for overly positive comments. Which is better than nothing IMO.
There's a balance to it, but so far what I've seen here it's not a problem.
Siked for this! And I love the description for "healthy discussions" ๐
This seems like a great idea!
Now I get why I randomly got this badge lmao
You earned it before the announcement! Well done ๐
I didnโt even get the 1 week badge and went straight to the 2 week one!
Thanks!
Very good idea! โจ
I was suprised with the first one a few days ago.
Awesome idea!
Gonna to get all the badges.๐คฉโ
Already got mine!!
Good luck getting the next one!
Cool, was wondering what the badge was about. I'm all about it!
Great stuff, got 2 already!!
I got this the other day and was like "I have no idea how I got this but I love it"
Great idea!
Hell yes! I got one too!
So awesome. Great work, everyone (both our community for their incoming and well-earned badges AND the DEV team for creating these!)
Just got the second one ๐
Must collect 100 x 1 badges now... ๐
Amazing idea! It really livens up the platform.
Excited for it!!!
Great ideas flowing in the product team of DEV, good work guys โ๏ธ
Love this idea which will make the community active!
Quite a nice idea! Gotta fight the haters with constructive and supportive comments
wow!! got them all
I wasn't really commenting here specifically but the fact that it's under the wellness flag changes quite a lot of things for me.
Thanks for that initiative. ๐๐ป
Nice one :D
I am in =D
I have 3:
I just received 2 badges
If there's Sloan hanging off the 16 badge, I don't want the 32.
Here to win this badge and also create interactive contents to my tech field. Iโm fully certain on my activity here!
So much love for dev community!!
I love all positivity this place has to offer โค๏ธ
Already working on getting the 4 week one!
I got one of these a couple of days ago and tbh I though it must've been around for years and that I just hadn't been constructive enough before :)
What a nice idea, I want to get my first badge! This will increase the participation of everyone, see you in #discuss! ๐
Here for this!
I love it!
Received two of them! ๐

May I be sincere? It sounds like an idea coming from the PHB (Pointed Hair Boss).
It sounds like a mug with "I was a team player" written on it. I do not think people will start being nice and helpful because of this. Note that I am one of those persons who like being helpful, answering when someone ask a question in my field of expertise.
So, when does it reset exactly? The start of the week is Monday or Wednesday?
Hey! There is no reset or โstart of the week," it's dependent on when your eligible comments are posted, and we validate comments and award badges daily. In other words, it's a moving window. Hope this helps!
Alright, thanks for the precisions!
What is "constructive comment"? Please explain, thanks.
Good question, and thank you for asking! A constructive comment is a comment that helps the author, starts a good conversation, gives actionable feedback, or tells them something specific that they're doing well.
Does "constructive comment" relate with likes or replies? So that the comment will be treat as a "constructive comment" by the code of dev.to.
Nope! A constructive comment is any comment that isn't marked as unhelpful, inappropriate, abusive, or spam by our moderators.
Is there a way to monitor whether you fail or on track with the streak?
Well-written and interesting post!
Love this idea!
I got mine today! Thank you for this great community!
Cool idea, but I wonder if it will incentivise people to post low-quality comments that are barely above getting flagged but don't really add anything towards the end of the week... ๐ค
Excellent read
It's so funn !!!
How do I get them
