Successful developers love the process and thus they are ready to take on whatever else that comes with this craft: deadlines, bugs, sitting for days in front of a screen. Ultimately it's all about putting a huge amount of time into self development and projects, many of which would fail spectacularly; but when you enjoy the process itself - the end result doesn't matter that much - you keep coding no matter what - and this stubbornness and determination along with will to iteratively evolve is what makes up for a success.
If that resonates with you, I would recommend reading two books simultaneously: "Lean startup" by Eric Ries and "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I found that those two combined together create a very balanced mindset rooted in both creativity and logic.
Thanks so much for sharing, I found motivation to keep going. For the past years I have had no results, but with this passage I think I will keep pushing.
Thanks for the books too I will check them out.
Feel free to reach out if you get stuck - would be happy to help
Thank you so much for the book recommendations! I have heard about The Lean Startup by Eric Ries before but Big Magic was new to me!
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
There are several factors. I'll highlight three major ones:
(1) Find a good mentor: Find an experienced mentor who can guide and teach you. And perhaps can even help you with your career development and networking.
(2) Start writing code daily: Writing code every day is one of the best ways to hone your craft, learn new languages and technologies, and build your portfolio. Work on projects outside of work in order to expand your skills and build your portfolio.
(3) Follow industry leaders: Following industry leaders can help you stay updated on the latest trends, technologies and also learn from their experiences, insights, and advice.
