Mostly negative ones.

I've seen a lot of people in different roles come in to a company and quickly rise through the ranks. What they have in common is that by the time they leave (usually when they've just got a promotion to a job with "head" or "lead" in the title) the rest of the company spends the next few years realising how much damage they'd left. Things like broken client relationships, resentful peers, technical debt, that sort of stuff.

It's a red flag.

On the other hand, there are some people who do rise relatively quickly where it's good for both themselves and their company. It's just that it's either much rarer or I'm biased because they don't stand out to me as clearly as the other kind.

One place I worked someone came in as a temp receptionist, and spent their time getting to know everyone. They then went for a role as an account exec -> account manager and as far as I know they're now the account director at a different firm, based on them being really good with people skills and honest with their clients.

I think people who put extreme efforts and hard work get promoted quicker. I also think people who bootlick get promoted quicker.
