How Forem is Supporting the People of Ukraine

Dear DEV Community,

I wanted to let you know that Forem (the open source software company behind DEV) has made a donation to Mercy Corps to support the Ukrainian people whose country is currently being invaded. Mercy Corps is an organization focused on humanitarian aid and building community.

Our hearts go out to our community members and colleagues that are most directly impacted by this war and to all who are hurting (especially to the countless displaced Ukrainian families).

We are humbled by those of you who have shared how this devastating attack has impacted you personally. We hope that you are able to find connections with other like-minded people in places like DEV — now more than ever.

If you are similarly compelled to make a donation in support of the Ukrainian people yourself, you can donate to Mercy Corps here. For other giving directions, here is a resource to check out with a lot of other options for impact.

Those of us lucky enough to have never experienced this type of strife firsthand must collectively act to help the best of humanity shine during times of atrocity. Anyone with a platform, no matter the size, has the power to be a steward of a better tomorrow. ❤️

Forem should go and support the people of Palestine too. War is war and no one deserves it.

This is great. And where do we donate if we want to help Russians devastated by the sanctions imposed upon them, sanctions that are killing helpless Russians just as the Russian military is killing Ukrainians (not that Russian soldiers aren't dying as well)? Or do you only care about "worthy" victims?

The most challenging time in Ukraine's history and the history of Europe is currently. More than ever, everyone must come together to support Ukrainians. Before the cold weather arrives, many of them must reconstruct their homes because they are homeless. Therefore, donations are needed right away. I hope you help to rebuild war-damaged home will join the cause like I have if you are interested in learning more about how to repair homes that have been harmed by conflict.
