I have exactly one rule for how I use AI: never close the tab without saving the conversation if it was useful.
It's that simple. Not "export everything." Not "organize by project with color-coded folders." Just: if this conversation taught me something, save it before I leave.
The tool I use is XWX AI Chat Exporter. One extension, works on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Grok. Click export, pick PDF or Markdown, done. PDFs get a clickable table of contents automatically. Three free PDFs per day, unlimited Markdown.
I don't tag, I don't categorize, I don't file anything. I just save to a folder and search when I need something. My operating system's search is fast enough.
The beauty of this rule is that it takes almost zero effort but compounds over time. After a year, you have hundreds of solved problems at your fingertips. After two years, you have a personal encyclopedia built from your own thinking.
One rule. Ten seconds. Forever valuable.
