Day 1377 : White Flag

liner notes:

A digital collage features a puppet character made to look like a folded United States dollar bill with large, round green eyes and thick black eyebrows, standing behind a presidential podium bearing the Seal of the President of the United States. The character is positioned as if giving a speech at the White House press briefing room, flanked by two American flags with the White House emblem visible in the background. The entire image is enclosed by thick black borders at the top and bottom containing bold yellow text:

  • Sunday : Did my study session over at https://untilit.works and had a pretty productive day.

  • Monday : It was a US holiday so I had the day off of work and did a bunch of tasks in the shed. I cleaned up a little, modified some models and sent them to print, set up a new printer and printed a test print. One of the models took like 8 hours to print and I didn't really like how it came out. I really need to figure out how to simplify it and maybe use my laser for the finer details.

  • Professional : Got back into work after the long weekend. Had a meeting in the morning to present the findings of the work we did. I reached out to a couple of coworkers about some projects I'm working on. I worked on updating some docs. I had a meeting with my manager and we spoke about questions I had and some new things that popped up since last week. After that, I continued working on updating the docs, and found an old project that I was working on before I got put on to the other project that we finished up.

  • Personal : I'm making some good projects on the items for this project I've been working on. Some items just need a little refinement before they are good to go and there's like one left that I need to figure out to make it work. I still have to get all the websites together.

A breathtaking, wide-angle view looking across a dramatic volcanic landscape at sunrise. In the foreground, the heavily ribbed, ash-covered slopes of Mount Batok rise near an active crater emitting wisps of white volcanic smoke. A thick layer of low-lying mist and clouds snakes through the caldera floor around the bases of the peaks. In the background, the massive, conical silhouette of a larger volcano towers into a clear sky that glows with a brilliant gradient of deep orange and soft yellow light from the rising sun. The composition captures the raw power and serene, ethereal beauty of the active volcanic complex. The setting is Mt. Bromo, Indonesia.

I've been really taking into consideration the amount of time it takes to produce these items in the package. I got so overwhelmed the first time that I was ready to wave the white flag. I'm learning from past events to make sure I'm able to keep up with demand and get these packages out. For example, I'm working on keeping the print times on bigger parts to no more than 5 hours. I've modified a model so that it maximizes the print bed size so instead of only being able to use 2 machines to print it, I can use 3. The blanks for one of the items came in so I need to set up the machines so I can get those worked on, but that will be tomorrow. Tonight, I'm going to eat dinner and work on a model so that I can print it tomorrow. Going to study Japanese and call it a night. I have a pretty busy day tomorrow.

Have a great night!

peace piece

You're doing a great job optimizing your 3D printing setup to cut down print times and get more out of your machines. Splitting models across three machines instead of two can really boost efficiency. Have you considered how the complexity of a model affects print resolution and time when using different machines? At PracHub, we notice similar optimization challenges in technical interviews, especially in system design talks. If you're working on this, our resources help translate these real-world constraints into design patterns often discussed in interviews.
