Bringing Visibility to Secrets Management

In the fast-paced world of modern software development, secrets management often becomes a blind spot. However, when left unchecked, this invisibility can become a significant security risk.

Why Visibility Matters in Secrets Management

Secrets like API keys, credentials, and tokens are central to infrastructure operations. Yet many teams don’t clearly understand how secrets are used, where they live, or whether they’re valid. Without this visibility, secrets can go stale, be left unused, or worse, fall into the wrong hands.

Doppler is tackling this challenge head-on with the launch of its Analytics Dashboard, an Enterprise-only feature designed to give teams critical insights into the state of their secrets.

The new Analytics Dashboard solves this by surfacing key metrics and usage trends so teams can quickly assess the health of their secrets infrastructure.

What You Can Do With the Analytics Dashboard

Monitor Secret Health: Instantly identify stale or expired secrets that may no longer be needed or are potential vulnerabilities.

Drill Down With Filters: Slice data by project, configuration, secret name, time range, or even visibility. This helps zero in on specific risk areas across environments.

Role-Based Access: Not every team member needs to see secret activity. Doppler ensures only authorised users with the “Access Analytics Dashboard” permission—typically Admins and Owners—can view this sensitive information.

Datadog Integration: Doppler improves observability by supporting log forwarding to Datadog. This allows for real-time monitoring, better incident detection, and automated compliance reporting.

A Step Forward in Infrastructure Security

As Doppler said in its LinkedIn announcement, “Visibility is the first step toward security.” By giving teams the tools to monitor and respond to secret usage, Doppler is helping businesses move from reactive to proactive security.
