5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Career in IT!

  1. It’s a commitment to lifelong learning and every day brings opportunities learn something new.

  2. It’s not just about technology. Tech is here to serve people, so it’s important to also develop skills in communication, leadership, and empathy.

  3. The tech part is not that difficult, and can be learned with effort and practice.

  4. The role I do today never even existed when I was growing up, and figuring out career choices, which blows my mind and makes me feel very lucky, and thankful that I landed here!

  5. Helping others to succeed is ultimately the most rewarding part, whether it’s uncovering stakeholder requirements as an architect, explaining technology options in an accessible way, helping others learn a new skill, or mentoring. Using the skills I’ve built up over the years to help others thrive is the most enjoyable element of what I get to do today!
