Hey friends,
This week, we are looking at the coolest new projects in open source found on Product Hunt.
The below are chosen based on the amount of engagement and a little handpicking.โ๏ธ
If you enjoy contributing to open source, at Quira we have a tool to help you find the best repos to contribute to based on your language and topic of preference!
You can register for free here.
1. Lago
๐ธ Lago makes it easy to build and iterate on complex pricing.
I understood through Lago that billing is actually 100x more complex than you would think. It's cool to see a company tackle what is a very challenging problem to solve.
Lago:
- Tackles clunky data reprocessing, lengthy reporting and invoicing mistakes.
- Brings a no-code UI with a strong API that enables self-hosted or cloud host.
- Encapsulates many/all edge cases (metering per second, pre-aggregation, data clean-up, custom plans, scalability for growth..)
2. Appwrite
๐ฟ A backend platform for developing Web, Mobile, and Flutter applications.
Microservices architecture has been a hot topic for a bit of time now. Appwrite doubled down its efforts on this and brought huge improvements in scalability and flexibility in backend development. Kudos ๐
Appwrite:
- Provides an end-to-end backend server for web, mobile, native, or backend apps packaged as a set of Docker microservices.
- It focuses on a modern backend API to build secure apps faster.
- Appwrite helps you integrate your app with user authentication with multiple sign-in methods, a user database, storage & file management, image manipulation and cloud functions.
3. Anytype
๐๏ธ A private hub for all your docs, tasks, files, bookmarks, contacts and more.
Anytype really looks like an app from the future. The design is super slick and the onboarding/features are extremely well thought out. I am still a beginner on the app, but I am eager to get better as I really like the idea of an "everything app". ๐ Any advice on how to use it efficiently please comment below!
Anytype:
- Builds on a new architecture that protects privacy and data sovereignty, even when working across devices.
- It creates elegant dashboards, documents, and knowledge graphs.
- The app is local-first, which improves loading times dramatically.
4. Requestly
๐น๏ธ Build, test & debug your web apps faster.
The standout feature of Requestly is its ability to let you run local JS code directly on production sites by bypassing the usual deployment cycles. This can save you significant time and allows for real-world testing without the hassle. It's a game-changer for any devs looking to streamline their workflow.
Requestly:
- Provides essential tooling & integrations that help devs write, test & debug their code 10x faster.
- It reduces dependency on backend devs and environments for development & testing needs.
- Devs can play with testing, validating & overriding API responses, modifying request & response headers and setting up redirects (Map local, Map remote).
5. erxes XOS
๐ Enables SaaS providers and digital marketing agencies/developers to create unique experiences for everyone.
Erxes XOS allows companies to create their own custom-made operating system. Whether it is integrating all the social media channels into one place, viewing and segmenting customer data or tracking events and activities, Saas companies can use erxes to do it.
The aspect I find really awesome within the project is erxes Marketplace, which offers a platform for independent developers to earn revenue by creating and distributing plugins. This provides a really cool opportunity to both contribute and benefit financially from the ecosystem.
You can find their roadmap here. ๐ช
erxes XOS:
- Plugin-based architecture providing unlimited customisation.
- You retain complete control over your data without third-party monitoring.
- Connect and integrate all the channels the business operates with.
6. AppSmith
๐๏ธ Self-hosted platform to build any custom business software.
The main thing that is really neat for devs is AppSmith's support for JavaScript across various components. This allows developers to create customised workflows which couldn't be done with a simple drag and drop.
AppSmith:
- Connects to any database, SaaS tool, or GraphQL/REST API within a few clicks.
- Drags and drop widgets to build UI and create responsive UI in a few minutes without writing HTML/CSS.
- You can write in-line JavaScript or reusable code blocks to extend the app's functionality.
7. Mage
๐งช Open-source data pipeline tool for transforming and integrating data.
It's easy to find Mage's hybrid framework particularly intriguing since it merges the flexibility of notebooks with the rigor of modular code. This allows for real-time and batch data transformations using multiple languages. It aims to make data pipeline orchestration simpler and more efficient.
Mage:
- is "The modern replacement for Airflow"
- Runs, monitors, and orchestrates thousands of pipelines.
- Builds real-time and batch pipelines to transform data using Python, SQL, and R

Awesome open-source projects. ๐๐
I just wanted to mention Novu github.com/novuhq/novu
It's a great project that helps add notifications, also featured on Product Hunt.
Novu is my fav.
I feel it offers the most differentiated value of all the listed open-source products, because normally youโd have to rely on some vendorโs bloated CRM (e.g. Braze) to implement things like omnichannel messaging and be charged obscene prices + lock-in for it
Hey Jordy! Novu is definitely an amazing product and I'll make sure to write up about it in the next one. Thanks for the comment ๐
Absolutely - I love Novu. Thanks for sharing and adding it. I will likely add it into a future post ๐ช
Great list Bap!
Thanks Nevo!
Never news ph has awesome projects, great curation.
