I Built FreeTV Garden: A Browser-Based Live TV Platform with 1000+ Channels

πŸ“Ί I Built FreeTV Garden

Hi DEV Community! πŸ‘‹

I'm excited to share a project I've been working on called FreeTV Garden.

The idea was simple:

What if you could explore live TV channels from around the world directly from your browser without installing an app or creating an account?

That idea became FreeTV Garden. 🌍

🌎 What is FreeTV Garden?

FreeTV Garden is a browser-based platform for discovering and watching 1000+ live TV channels from 200+ countries.

Instead of navigating huge channel lists, users can explore countries through an interactive 3D globe and discover available channels.

✨ Features

🌍 Interactive 3D globe for exploring countries

πŸ“Ί 1000+ live TV channels

🌐 200+ countries

πŸ”— Embeddable live TV player for websites

πŸ“± Picture-in-Picture (PiP) support

πŸ”Š Background audio playback on supported browsers and channels

πŸ“² Installable web-app experience on supported devices

⚑ Responsive across mobile, desktop, tablets, and Smart TVs

πŸ”— Embed Live TV

One feature I'm particularly excited about is channel embedding.

Users can select a supported channel, tap the Embed option, copy the provided embed code, and add the player to their own website.

This makes FreeTV Garden useful not only for viewers but also for developers and website owners.

πŸ“± Built for the Browser

I wanted to avoid forcing users to download an APK or install additional software.

The experience runs directly inside modern browsers.

There's:

  • No account required
  • No subscription required
  • No credit card required
  • No separate APK required

Just visit the website and start exploring.

πŸš€ What's Next?

FreeTV Garden is still evolving.

I'm continuing to improve performance, channel discovery, device compatibility, and the overall viewing experience.

This is also why I'm sharing the project with the DEV community.

I'd love feedback from other developers.

What would you improve?

What features would you add next?

The idea of using an interactive 3D globe to explore countries and discover available channels is really interesting, and I can see how it would make navigating 1000+ live TV channels more engaging and user-friendly. I've worked on similar projects that involved geospatial data visualization, and I'm curious to know more about the technical implementation of the globe feature - what libraries or frameworks did you use to achieve this? The embeddable live TV player is also a great feature, and I think it could be useful for developers looking to integrate live TV into their own web applications, have you considered providing any APIs or developer tools for customizing the player?

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! πŸ™Œ

Yes, developers can integrate FreeTV Garden in a couple of different ways.

For individual channels, we provide an embeddable player that can be customized by changing values such as width and height, as well as iframe attributes. For example:

You can also embed the FreeTV Garden website itself:

For the globe, our goal was to make browsing 1,000+ channels across 200+ countries more interactive and intuitive.

We don't currently have a public API, but we're considering adding more developer-focused tools and customization options in the future.

If you're interested in integration ideas or have any technical questions, feel free to contact us at:
