Apple Bans Home Services From Its Upcoming Maps Ads

Apple is preparing to bring ads to Apple Maps, but not every business will be able to use them.

Under its new advertising guidelines, home service businesses such as plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, roofers, HVAC providers, and pest control companies are not eligible to advertise.

Instead, Apple is giving priority to businesses that customers visit in person, including restaurants, cafés, hotels, and retail stores.

To keep search results simple, Apple Maps will display only one sponsored listing for each search.

These ads will be easy to identify with a blue map pin and an "Ad" label.

Apple says this approach is designed to reduce scams, improve trust, and create a better experience for users.

The company is also continuing its privacy-first strategy by processing ad interactions on users' devices without collecting or sharing personal data with third parties.

Overall, Apple is aiming to make Maps advertising simple, trustworthy, and useful for users while giving eligible local businesses a new way to reach customers.
