Apple Music Will Label Songs Made With AI Later This Year

Apple Music is getting ready to introduce a new “Made With AI” label to show listeners when AI has played a major role in creating a song. The labels are expected to appear later in 2026.

Apple’s existing AI Transparency Tags will also become mandatory for record labels and distributors when AI is used significantly in a release.

These tags can show whether AI was involved in the track, composition, artwork, or music video.

For now, Apple will mainly rely on labels and distributors to report AI use.

The company also has its own technology to help detect AI-generated music.

The scale of AI music is already interesting. Apple Music executive Oliver Schusser said more than one-third of monthly uploads are fully AI-generated. However, these songs account for less than 0.5% of total listening.

Apple is not planning to ban AI-generated music.

Instead, the goal is to give listeners a clearer idea of what they are hearing and how the music was made.

The visible “Made With AI” labels are expected later this year, but Apple has not shared an exact launch date yet.

Want to know what this could mean for the future of music?
