OpenAI is reportedly working on a new AI-powered smart speaker that could bring ChatGPT into homes in a more natural way.
The device is expected to cost around $300 to $400, which would make it much more expensive than most smart speakers currently available.
Unlike regular smart speakers, the device is said to have no screen.
Instead, users would mainly interact with it through voice conversations.
Reports also suggest a rounded, donut-like design that could make it easy to move around the house, whether in the bedroom, kitchen, or home office.
The higher price may be linked to its premium design and deeper ChatGPT features. Users could use it to ask questions, plan things, brainstorm ideas, or get help with everyday tasks.
The device is reportedly being developed with LoveFrom, the design company founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive.
OpenAI is said to be targeting a 2027 launch, although there is still no official confirmation about the product or release date.
With Amazon, Google, Apple, and other brands already competing in the smart-home space, OpenAI will have to give people a good reason to pay more.
