TikTok Could Let Users Send Money Through Direct Messages

TikTok may soon make its direct messages more useful than just a place to chat and share videos.

The company is reportedly testing a peer-to-peer payment feature that could allow users to send money directly through DMs.

The feature is still being developed and has not been officially released. Reports suggest that code found in TikTok’s iPhone app includes options related to sending money and adding funds.

This new feature could be linked to TikTok Pay, which already supports TikTok Shop payments in some parts of Southeast Asia.

If TikTok brings the feature to users, sending money could become as simple as sending a message.

For example, friends might be able to split small expenses or send money to each other without opening another payment app.

There are still many details we don't know.

TikTok has not confirmed when the feature will launch, which countries will get it, or exactly how the payment process will work.

Safety will also be an important part of the feature.

TikTok would need to protect users from scams, fake payment requests, account theft, and other payment-related risks.

For now, the payment feature is only reported to be in development.

But if TikTok does launch it, the app could become more than a place for videos, adding another way for people to connect and handle payments in one place.

Want to know how this could change the way people use TikTok?
