X is changing the way creators earn money on the platform by replacing its current Revenue Sharing program with a new system called Original Content Rewards.
The new program puts more focus on people who create their own videos, images, reports, opinions, and other original content.
X has stopped accepting new creators into the old program. Existing participants can continue receiving payments until September 7, while eligible creators can apply for Original Content Rewards from September 8.
To qualify, creators will need an X Premium subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users within 90 days.
Original reports, photos, videos, graphics, personal views, and useful commentary may qualify for rewards.
Simply copying another post or sharing content without adding anything useful may not be enough.
This change could encourage creators to spend more time on their own ideas, research, style, and experiences instead of relying mainly on reposts to gain views.
For creators, being original and building a trusted audience could become more important for both growth and earnings on X.
