Right now I’m freaking out because I accidentally erased my entire $dayJob website.
I’m writing this as I wait for the backups to load, fingers crossed they work as intended.
If not, I’m terrified to be pulling an all-nighter rebuilding the site from Wayback machine.
I know all of the mistakes I made here, and I’m not looking for advice on how to solve the problem.
I am asking, what’s your biggest and/or most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made on the job?

Not a major mistake but something silly and embarrassing that I can remember: First day at a new job, fairly newbie to the version control world at the time (had been using svn at my previous job, had never used Git) ... I pronounced "Git" with a soft g to my boss. He immediately was like "Did you seriously just say that?" 😳 😳 Wanting to make a good impression I was pretty horrified with myself but other than some gentle ribbing it was quickly forgotten about 🙃
I have done this exact same thing! You’re not alone.
A live streaming server was having problems so I restarted it in the middle of an event hoping that users would fail over to the backup. They did not fail over. The customer was dissatisfied to say the least.
Oh no
Pushing to the master branch for two days without knowing. We usually work on separate branches then create a PR to the dev branch
Seems like something that would be common...I’m sure you’re not alone!
