Meetup: AI Agents Saving You from Boring Work and Tips to Save Money on AWS

What about a tool that receives an incident alert, runs a quick investigation, suggests a fix and a permanent solution, and then waits for your approval to apply it.

That’s what Tom Graupner and Ankit Asthana have been working on. They shared their progress, some challenges, and two real examples of the tool handling incidents during their talk: From Alerts to Actions: Smarter Kubernetes Fixes with Slack, AI & GitOps.

The idea is to speed up and simplify incident response. Definitely a great example of using communication tools and AI agents.

In the next talk, Akshay Kapoor explained how cloud misconfigurations can end up being really expensive for companies.

The talk topic was From AZs to the Internet: Cracking the code on AWS networking costs, and highlighted some critical points like data moving between zones, using public routes instead of private ones, and bad replica distribution, all of which add extra (and often redundant) costs. It was also interesting to see how we’re charged for data going out of a zone, but not for what's coming in.

This was my first time joining the SRE MUC Summer 2025 Edition meetup, and I was really impressed with the quality and depth of the talks. Big thanks to the organizers and to SQUER for hosting the event.
