GoldenHour.Forecast helps photographers, creators, and travelers find the perfect time to shoot anywhere in the world — with real HD wallpapers for every city.
The Problem
If you've ever tried to capture that perfect golden hour photo, you know the pain:
- "What time is golden hour in Tokyo today?"
- "Is it worth staying up for sunrise in Santorini?"
- "What will the light look like in Bali next week?"
Most weather apps give you sunrise/sunset times, but they don't tell you:
- When the light is actually warm and golden (not just "sunrise")
- How good the sunset will be today
- What kind of wallpaper vibe you can expect
I wanted something simple: type in a city, see exactly when the golden hour peaks, and get a real photo of what it looks like there.
What I Built
golden.sendafun.com is a free, no-signup tool that gives you:
🌍 159 cities worldwide — from Tokyo to Tulum, Reykjavik to Rio
⏰ Accurate golden hour calculations — civil twilight, blue hour, golden hour start/end, peak warmth
📸 Real HD wallpapers — actual golden hour photos from each city, updated weekly

The Tech Stack
I built this as a side project using modern web tech:

The Math Part
The core calculation uses the SunCalc library, which computes:
- Sun position (azimuth, altitude)
- Civil/nautical/aquatic twilight
- Golden hour window
- Blue hour window
The "golden hour peak" is actually a bit more nuanced — it's not just "1 hour after sunrise." It depends on:
- Sun altitude (best between 0° and 15°)
- Atmospheric conditions (humidity, pollution)
- Time of year
I map all of this to a simple "golden hour score" from 1-10, so you know at a glance if today is a good day to shoot.
Why No Signup?
I hate having to create an account just to check a time. This is a utility tool — it should work in 3 seconds, not 30 seconds.
No email, no password, no newsletter popup. Just type a city name and get the answer.
