Both delays were announced by Rockstar on its own channels, the second one on the same day Take-Two published its quarterly results. Neither one came as a leak first. That is useful to remember: a real GTA 6 delay will appear on Rockstar's Newswire and social accounts, not on a reposted screenshot.
Why was GTA 6 delayed twice?
Rockstar's public statements only said it needed more time for polish. More detail came later. In a Bloomberg feature published on 14 October 2026, Rockstar head of publishing Jennifer Kolbe described asking Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick for each extension. When she called about the second one, his first reaction was "please tell me you're kidding", but he agreed once the reasons were explained. {{st:reported}}

- A launch trailer released in October 2026 states the date and the pre-load start.

- Rockstar's studio heads are on record. Asked by Famitsu whether the game would still arrive in November, Rob Nelson answered: "It will definitely be released." {{st:reported}}
No one outside Rockstar can promise a date, and studios have delayed games late before. But a third delay this close to launch, after pre-loads are scheduled, would be very unusual {{st:estimate}}. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has said the date does not look likely to move.

Searches for "GTA 6 delayed to 2027" and "2028" spike after every PC report. The console version has not moved. What is rumoured for 2027 is the PC version {{st:reported}}:
- GamesBeat reported on 13 October 2026, citing four unnamed sources, that a PC release is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
- Take-Two's CEO has said the game launches first on consoles, without giving a PC date.
- Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all. GTA V reached PC about 19 months after consoles, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year after.

- Check the source. A real delay is posted by @RockstarGames and on rockstargames.com/newswire. Screenshots of "leaked emails" are not.
- Check the store. PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store change the release date within hours of an official delay.
- Check the date of the article. Many "GTA 6 delayed" pages are from May or November 2025 and are being shared again.
