Apple asks for at least 15% fewer parts orders for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

Nikkei Asia reports that Apple asked some suppliers to cut October component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by at least 15% against initial forecasts.

That percentage applies to component orders, not a confirmed reduction in finished-phone output; the report gives no unit total.

It also links the models’ $100 price increase to higher memory-chip costs and weakening demand.

The iPhone 18 Pro costs $100 more than the models they replace. The increase is attributed to higher memory chip costs, which push the price up for buyers and is linked to lower demand.

Samsung is also planning cuts: according to a previous Techblog report, it will reduce mobile production by up to 30% in the fourth quarter of 2026. Estimates for the whole year have also fallen, from 270 million phones to around 200 million.

SamMobile estimates that memory chip prices are showing no signs of easing yet, so the pressure on both companies is expected to continue until the market stabilizes.
