The fwupd project released version 2.1.9 of its open-source Linux firmware update utility, bringing device identification improvements, Secure Boot fixes, and resolved service startup issues for Fedora CoreOS alongside a minimum libusb requirement bump to 1.0.27.
What's new in the new version
The update brings fixes to the security feature at startup and ensures proper version detection on newer systems. It also resolves an issue that affected the service startup on certain Linux systems, so that the necessary files are loaded correctly at the right time.
In the hardware area, support for Pixart PID 38CA devices has been added and collaboration with HPE Redfish management systems has been improved by using unique identifiers. In addition, the program can now record in its reports whether the computer is running in a virtual machine or an isolated environment.
Fixes and functional improvements
Version 2.1.9 also includes fixes for technical issues that occurred during operation. Among other things, a small memory leak was fixed when installing updates on Dell Kestrel systems, data checking was improved for certain device types, and an issue with battery reports when updating Jabra accessories was resolved.
