Anthropic's new report examines how internal AI workflows are shifting labor demand and team structures, showing a drop in junior technical staff from 21% to 14% since early 2025 and increased software creation by non-technical employees.
Fewer new employees and changes in teams
The company is now hiring significantly fewer young and inexperienced employees, according to the data. Since the beginning of 2025, the percentage of entry-level employees in technical departments has fallen from 21% to 14%, while new hires with no experience have seen a sharp drop from 27% to 9%.
Meanwhile, technical departments now make up 56% of the total workforce, down from 61% previously. Anthropic notes that advanced programming tools now allow employees without a technical background to create software on their own.
The new everyday life and the role of systems
In an April 2026 survey, 27% of employees said they were more productive thanks to company tools. However, at the same time, 20% said their work had shifted from executing tasks to managing and controlling those programs.
