NexPhone launch postponed to 2027

The NexPhone project has announced a delay to March 2027, citing chassis and antenna design challenges.

The device, which aims to provide a native multi-OS experience supporting Android 17, Windows 11, and Debian, is a significant test for mobile hardware versatility.

The updated launch strategy confirms 12GB of RAM and a 120Hz display, keeping the focus on its potential as a hybrid computing platform for developers and power users.

The reasons for the delay

According to the company, the postponement is due to technical issues identified in the device's casing and antenna design. These issues affect the overall hardware assembly, forcing engineers to continue making corrections.

Software and performance

Despite the hardware difficulties, the development team continues to work on the software. The device is now expected to ship with Android 17. The NexPhone is designed to support Android 16, the Debian operating system (via an app), and Windows 11.

The technical characteristics of the device include:

  • 6,5-inch display at 120 Hz
  • Kryo 670 processor
  • 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage
  • 64 MP main camera

The package will include a USB Type-C hub, which allows the phone to be connected to external monitors, keyboards, and mice.

Price changes

The pre-order price for new customers has now been increased to $599, up from $549. The company clarifies that those who had already pre-ordered will not be affected by this increase and will retain the original price.
