OpenAI is updating its interface by merging the ChatGPT Chat and Work tabs into a single unified experience, starting with initial tests among a small group of users.
Additionally, Codex will soon share the same token allowance, and support for the classic macOS app is scheduled to end on January 30, 2027.
According to the announcement, the new unified experience will begin testing soon with a small group of users, before rolling out the feature more broadly.
The new unified experience
Until now, ChatGPT has had separate options for simple everyday chats and for business use. Merging these features aims to make the experience smoother so that users don't have to manually switch tabs.
At the same time, the scheduling tab will remain separate, but will soon share the same usage limit with the rest of ChatGPT's features.
End of support for the older app on Mac
OpenAI also confirmed that it will stop supporting its older ChatGPT app for Mac computers on January 30, 2027.
