YouTube Music is implementing official labels for AI-generated tracks.
The new UI element, appearing under the track title, identifies content generated fully or significantly via AI, including vocal synthesis.
Users can tap the label to access metadata regarding the specific AI implementation.
This rollout aligns with YouTube's broader video content labeling and mirrors transparency efforts currently adopted by industry competitors like Spotify and Deezer.
What does the marking show?
The indicator appears in cases where artificial intelligence has been used to create the entire track or significant parts of it, such as in the creation of vocals. By clicking on the marking, the listener can see additional information about exactly how the technology was used in that particular song.
Plans for the future and market movements
The platform plans to expand this feature to YouTube's video player in the future, following the practice it already has for videos on its main platform. Similar moves to flag or filter AI-generated content have also been made by other services, such as Spotify and Deezer.
