I’m launching CouponLab on Product Hunt today.
The idea behind it is simple: when someone searches for a coupon, they want a discount they can actually use. Finding a page full of codes is only part of the job.
I’m building CouponLab around that problem, using AI to help discover offers and then trying codes myself.
Where AI helps—and where I still check
AI is an assistant in my workflow. It helps me find offers, but its output isn’t proof that a code works at checkout.
That’s why I still try the codes.
Even a successful test has limits. A coupon might apply to one cart but exclude items in another. It might require a minimum spend or only work for new customers. I don’t want to turn “this worked when I tested it” into “this will work for everyone.”
One product question I’m still working through is how to communicate that clearly. A “verified” badge is easy to scan, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. A test date and the relevant conditions could be more useful—provided they don’t make each offer overwhelming to read.
Building the website has been part of the learning
I’ve also used Grok to help turn ideas into code and work through changes to the site, with Vercel handling deployment.
Having AI involved in development means I can try ideas and refine them, but I still have to decide what belongs in the product. There’s always another feature I could add. Right now, I want the core experience to make sense: find an offer, understand its conditions, and decide whether to try it.
An Android app is something I’d like to explore later. Saved coupons, favorite stores, and optional expiration reminders are possibilities, but I haven’t settled on the first version yet.
What I’d love feedback on
For this launch, I’d especially like to hear what would help you trust the information on a coupon page.
Would you look for a recent test date? Details about how it was checked? Reports from other shoppers?
And if you try the site, please tell me where something feels confusing. That would give me something concrete to improve.
