🎯 Lessons I’ve Learned in 3+ Years as a Frontend Developer

Hi everyone 👋

I'm Ijas Subair, a Software Engineer with 3+ years of experience in frontend development, mainly working with Javascript and its ecosystem. I recently started sharing my thoughts and experiences publicly — and I'm excited to connect with more like-minded developers!

How It All Started

My journey began right after my B.Tech when I joined Cabot Technology Solutions as a fresher. The work culture, supportive colleagues, and real-world learning made it a great place to begin my professional career. That early exposure helped me grow not just in coding but also in team collaboration, client communication, and product thinking.

What I’ve Learned in 3+ Years

  • Write Clean, Maintainable Code
Following best practices and maintaining code quality always pays off in the long run. It helps teams work better and makes future changes easier.

  • Focus on UI/UX
As a frontend dev, you’re the bridge between code and the user. Prioritizing usability, accessibility, and design details really matters.

  • Security Matters
Early in my journey, I didn’t think much about security. But as I got involved in more serious applications, I realized how crucial it is — from input validation to secure coding practices.

  • Communication is Key
Working with designers, backend devs, testers, and product owners taught me how important clear communication is. It’s not just about writing code, it’s about building the right thing together.

  • Never Stop Learning
The frontend world is always evolving — frameworks update, tools change, new best practices emerge. Staying curious has helped me stay on top of my game.

Challenges I’ve Faced

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I’ve faced plenty of bugs, last-minute changes, and performance issues. But every challenge taught me something — whether it's debugging smarter or handling feedback better. Those moments shaped me into the developer I am today.

Looking Ahead: The AI Era & Beyond
I believe we’re entering a new era of frontend development — one where AI will play a big role in enhancing user experience, improving developer productivity, and automating repetitive workflows.

That’s why I’m currently exploring how to bring AI into my frontend projects — using tools like ChatGPT, integrating AI APIs, and experimenting with intelligent UIs.

My Vision
I don’t just want to build apps — I want to build meaningful and smart user experiences. I aim to:

  • Keep learning and upskilling

  • Share knowledge through blogs and open source

  • Explore entrepreneurship or product building in the long run

If you’ve just started your frontend journey — or are looking to level up — I’d love to connect and learn from you too! Feel free to drop a comment or reach out.

Thanks for reading ✨
Let’s keep growing together.
