Creating Folders: Methods and Tools
1. Using File Explorer
Windows:
Open File Explorer and navigate to the location where you want to create a new folder.
Right-click in the empty space, select New, and then choose Folder.
Name your folder and press Enter.
Mac:
Open Finder and go to the desired location.
Right-click (or Control-click) and select New Folder from the context menu.
Enter a name for your folder and press Return.
2. Using the Terminal
Windows (Command Prompt):
Open Command Prompt.
Navigate to the desired directory using the cd command:
cd path\to\your\directory
- Create a new folder using the mkdir command:
mkdir NewFolderName
Mac/Linux:
Open the Terminal.
Navigate to the desired directory:
cd /path/to/your/directory
- Create a new folder:
mkdir NewFolderName
3. Using Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
Open VS Code and navigate to the Explorer panel on the left.
Right-click in the file explorer area and select New Folder.
Enter a name for your folder and press Enter.
Alternatively, you can create a folder from the integrated terminal in VS Code:
- Open the terminal in VS Code (
Ctrl +
` or from the menu). - Use the mkdir command as described above.
