Top 5 AI Income Streams That Actually Made Me Money in 2026

Top 5 AI Income Streams That Actually Made Me Money in 2026

By Ionel Doboaca | ioneldigital.com

I'm a teacher in Bali. Computer science background, 15+ years in IT and education.

In February 2025, I started taking AI seriously. Not dabbling — seriously. Daily sessions, real projects, real failures.

By early 2026, I had multiple income streams running with AI doing most of the work.

This isn't a "here's what could theoretically work" post. These are the five streams that have actually produced results for me — with honest numbers and what it actually took to get there.

Why Most "AI Passive Income" Advice Is Wrong

Before the list: let me save you time.

Most guides tell you to "use ChatGPT to write blog posts" or "sell AI art on Etsy." That's surface-level noise. The real money isn't in using AI as a tool — it's in building systems where AI does the repetitive work while you do the thinking once.

That's the model behind everything below.

Stream 1: Affiliate Marketing Through AI-Generated Content

Monthly range: $150–$400
Time invested: ~2 hours to set up, 30 min/week to maintain

The play: write detailed, genuinely useful reviews and tutorials for AI tools. Embed affiliate links. Let Google and Dev.to send traffic forever.

I focus on tools I actually use. The content is written with AI assistance but edited to reflect real experience — that's what makes it rank and convert.

My top performer right now is ElevenLabs. If you're a creator, podcaster, or just curious about AI voiceovers, their quality is genuinely unmatched. I use it for all my video content. Try ElevenLabs here — they have a free tier and the paid plans pay for themselves fast if you're producing regular content.

What makes this work: Consistency. One article a week. Real opinions. Specific use cases.

The AI role: First drafts, outlines, SEO optimization, distribution to multiple platforms simultaneously.

Stream 2: Digital Products on Gumroad

Monthly range: $100–$300
Time invested: ~4 hours to create, near-zero maintenance

I sell AI prompt packs. Not generic "100 ChatGPT prompts" — specific, tested, use-case-focused packs.

My two current products:

  • AI Prompt Pack: Business Writing & Emails — for professionals who want to use AI for communication without sounding robotic
  • AI Prompt Pack: 30-Day Social Media Content Calendar — for creators who need to post consistently but hate planning

Both were created in an afternoon using AI to generate and refine the prompts, then packaged into clean PDFs.

The honest truth: The products aren't making me rich. But they're making money while I sleep, they validate the audience, and they're the foundation for higher-priced offerings.

What makes this work: Solving a specific problem for a specific person. "AI prompts" is too broad. "30-day social media calendar prompts for B2B coaches" is a product.

Stream 3: Content on Dev.to + Medium (Long-Term SEO Play)

Monthly range: $0–$50 now, projected $300–$800 in 6 months
Time invested: 2 articles/week, ~1 hour each with AI

This is the slow burn that most people quit too early.

I publish technical-ish articles about AI tools, productivity, and building income online. The articles live forever. They compound. Each one is a permanent asset.

Dev.to is particularly good for this — developer audience, high engagement, articles rank on Google surprisingly well.

I'm 11 articles in. Traffic is still low. But I've watched this pattern work for enough people to know: if you publish 100 quality articles on a consistent niche, you will build traffic. The question is whether you're patient enough.

What makes this work: Volume + specificity + consistency. AI handles the first draft, I add the real experience layer.

Stream 4: AI Voiceover and Video Content

Monthly range: $0 currently, targeting $200+ by month 3
Time invested: 2–3 hours per video

I run a faceless YouTube channel under Ionel Digital. The format: AI voiceover (ElevenLabs), screen recordings, AI-generated visuals.

The channel isn't monetized yet — YouTube requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. I'm building toward that.

But here's why I'm including it: the process is essentially free. ElevenLabs generates the voice. AI generates the script. Free tools handle the editing. The main investment is time.

And TikTok and YouTube Shorts don't have the monetization threshold. I'm already posting there.

What makes this work: Faceless means no camera, no editing skills, no personal brand requirement. You're a media producer, not a personality.

Stream 5: Teaching What You Know (Digital Course — In Progress)

Monthly range: $0 now, targeting $500–$1,500 at launch
Time invested: 20–30 hours to build

This is the one I'm building right now.

I have a genuine edge: I teach technology, I've built AI systems, I live in Bali and run a remote income operation. That combination is interesting to people trying to do the same thing.

The course is: "How to Build AI Income Streams as a Teacher or Remote Worker." Specific audience. Real experience. Not theory.

I'm using AI to write the modules, create the exercises, and produce the video scripts. My job is the expertise and the editing. The AI handles the production.

Platform: Gumroad for simplicity. No monthly fees, clean checkout, works everywhere.

What makes this work: The combination of specific audience + genuine experience + AI production speed. You can build a course in a weekend now. The bottleneck is the idea, not the execution.

The Honest Summary

Stream Status Monthly Range
Affiliate marketing Active $150–$400
Digital products (Gumroad) Active $100–$300
Content / SEO Building $0–$50 now, more later
YouTube / Video Building $0 now, $200+ target
Digital course In progress $500–$1,500 at launch

Total current: ~$250–$700/month. Target by month 6: $3,000–$5,000.

None of these are get-rich-quick. All of them are get-rich-eventually if you're consistent.

The AI doesn't replace the work. It compresses the timeline.

What I'd Do If Starting Today

  1. Pick one affiliate program for a tool you actually use. Write three honest, detailed articles about it. Post them everywhere.
  2. Create one digital product that solves a specific problem you've already solved for yourself.
  3. Start the content flywheel — two articles a week, forever. Dev.to, Medium, your own blog.
  4. Don't try to do everything at once. I made that mistake. Depth beats breadth in month one.

The systems compound. Start now, optimize later.

If you're creating content or building products, ElevenLabs is the tool I use daily for AI voiceovers. Worth trying.
