What is Physical AI?
Physical AI is a technology that allows intelligence and AI to be applied in the physical world.
This means decisions made by AI can be performed in the real world.
How does it work?
Physical AI can have 4 stages:
Identification – Technology (RFID, BLE, UWB, Computer Vision) is used to identify assets, equipment and locations.
Sensing – Sensors provide insight into equipment and environments.
Decision – The data is analysed using AI to find issues, forecasting and recommendations.
Action – Authorized commands are sent to machines, controllers, actuators or robots.
Real world applications of this technology include:
Smart Manufacturing
Predictive Maintenance
Industrial Robotics
Automated Logistics
Equipment Monitoring
Workplace Safety
Why is safety important?
The Physical actions are not just recommendations like normal software. This means you need to ensure the system has:
Authorisation
Limits on how it runs
Manually monitored
Emergency Stop
Cyber Security
Monitoring feedback
Aperture Venture Studio are experimenting with this technology through our Physical AI and AIoT engine architecture.
Physical AI provides new opportunities to developers and industries to connect intelligent software to real world systems.

Physical AI is an emerging technology that connects artificial intelligence with physical devices, industrial equipment, and robotic systems.
It allows AI-supported decisions to influence real-world operations rather than remaining limited to digital recommendations.
