Does anyone think that the current rise of ai has made us less chill as devs?

I was just thinking about the current rise of ai and was thinking it actually feels more free to code without ai.

I remember just learning to code like 5 years ago when ai wasn’t so big and ai agents were much less common than they are today. It felt chill and low stress but now with the ai boom you have to be up to date with the latest model and agentic workflows. It just felt calmer where it was sort of just a nerdy hobby where you would build a small project and send it to the family group chat to share your progress. Now I feel like I can’t just build a non ai project for a hackathon like I did before the rise of ai.
Now don’t get me wrong I’m fully into ai and adding it into my projects but it feels a bit overused.

Thanks for reading!

I'd split it in two. The tools got better and I use them every day. What got less chill is the feed telling you every week that you're already behind, and that part you can mute.

A small project with no AI in it is still a fine thing to send to the family chat.
