I Built a Free YouTube Description Generator (Because TubeBuddy Charges $10/mo for That)
I was watching a tutorial on YouTube description best practices, and the creator kept saying "use TubeBuddy" — a browser extension that costs $10/month for the plan that includes description templates.
I opened it up. Filled in my video title. Clicked "generate." And got a wall of upsells.
My description data was about to flow through a third-party extension. My YouTube account was about to get another permission request. All for something I could write in 30 seconds.
That shouldn't be the default.
So I built something better.
YouTube Description Generator is a free, client-side tool that runs entirely in your browser. No extensions. No accounts. No subscriptions.
What it does:
- Pick a template: Tech Review, Vlog, Tutorial, Gaming, or Lifestyle
- Fill in your video title, channel name, and description
- Add timestamps with one click
- Paste your social links and hashtags
- Copy the formatted description to your clipboard — done
Everything happens locally. Your content never leaves your device. The whole thing is a single HTML file with no server component.
Why this matters
TubeBuddy is a great all-in-one YouTube tool — if you need all-in-one. But for a simple description generator, paying $10/month and installing a browser extension that asks for YouTube permissions is overkill.
And let's be honest: most of us don't need a thousand features. We need to write a good description and move on with our day.
This tool solves that. It's free, private, and works offline after the first load.
Open and use it
No signup, no install, no tricks. Just open the tool, fill in your details, and copy.
