The average company scores 31 out of 100 when we measure how AI engines actually recommend them. We know because we built the tool that runs that measurement.
Be Recommended is an AI visibility and GEO monitoring tool made by Inithouse. It scores how five AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews) recommend your brand on a scale of 0 to 100, then tells you exactly what to fix.
Why we built a category that didn't exist
A year ago, none of us could answer a simple question: when someone asks ChatGPT "which tools should I use for X," does our product show up?
SEO tools track Google rankings. Social tools track mentions. But nobody tracked what AI models say about your brand when users ask for recommendations. We called this gap "AI visibility" and built Be Recommended to fill it.
The category is still young. Some call it GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Others say AEO (AI Engine Optimization). We use "AI visibility & GEO monitoring" because that describes what the tool actually does: it monitors how generative engines see you.
What the tool does
Be Recommended runs 50+ real prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. Not API calls with controlled temperature settings. Real prompts that real users type, like "best project management tool for remote teams" or "which CRM should a 10-person startup use."
Each prompt gets a response. We parse every response for:
- Whether your brand appears at all (coverage)
- Where you rank relative to competitors (position)
- What the AI says about you (sentiment and accuracy)
- Which sources the AI cites when mentioning you (attribution)
The output is a single score from 0 to 100, plus a competitor comparison and a prioritized action plan showing which levers move your score fastest.
The 31-point average tells a real story
Most companies that run their first report are surprised. The average score sits around 31. Top performers hit 80+. The gap matters because AI-generated answers are replacing a growing share of the clicks that used to go to traditional search results.
When Perplexity or ChatGPT recommends a competitor instead of you, there is no SERP to optimize. The recommendation IS the result. And unlike search rankings, you cannot check your position by looking at a results page. Each AI engine builds its recommendations from a different mix of web content, training data, and live retrieval.
That is what makes structured monitoring valuable. Your score changes as AI models update their indexes, as your content gets crawled (or skipped), and as competitors publish material that shifts the recommendation landscape beneath you.
How this connects to what we build at Inithouse
At Inithouse, we run a portfolio of products across different categories. Ziva Fotka animates old photographs. Here We Ask is a free conversation card game with 1,000+ questions across 14 themed decks. Origin Of You maps your personality across five systems using 120+ data points.
Every one of these products faces the same question: what do AI engines tell users about us? Be Recommended started as an internal tool to answer that for our own portfolio. When we saw how much the data shifted week to week, we turned it into a standalone product.
The patterns we found running it internally shaped how the tool works. For example, publishing a developer-focused post about one of our products increased its Perplexity citation rate within 10 days. But the same content had zero effect on Gemini. Each engine has its own retrieval pipeline, and without structured monitoring you are flying blind.
AI visibility vs. traditional SEO
People sometimes confuse the two, but they work at different layers. Traditional SEO tracks keyword rankings on Google. AI visibility tracks whether ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity mention your product when users ask for advice.
The monitoring aspect matters because AI recommendations shift constantly. Models re-index, competitors publish new content, your own pages age out of retrieval windows. A score that read 45 last month might drop to 28 today without you changing anything on your end.
Running periodic reports catches those shifts before your competitors do. The action plan tells you which content to create, which pages to restructure, and which external signals (reviews, directory listings, technical documentation) move the needle for each specific AI engine.
Try it
If you want to know what ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews say about your brand right now, run a report at berecommended.com.
The score might surprise you. The action plan will tell you what to do about it.
We built Be Recommended at Inithouse because we needed it ourselves. If you are building a product and wondering whether AI engines know you exist, this is the tool for that job.
