How do you guys do it?

How do you guys do it?

How do you don’t compare yourself with others?

How do you open Twitter every day and not feel overwhelmed with the amount of success?

How do you see everybody talking around, making connections, and don’t feel left out?

How do you see all these nice desktop setups and don’t feel the shame of yours?

How do you overcome this idea in your head that says you don’t know shit?

How do you master all these different languages and technologies in your spare time?

How do you get from nothing to a job offer within a year and with a 9-to-5?

How do you release all these incredible websites and apps every week?

How do you come up with innovative ideas?

How do you get over the typical “Unfortunately, we will not be moving forward with your application”?

How do you jump over the first barrier, when you are self-taught?

How do you know when you know enough?

How do you prove them wrong?

How?

Step 1: Stop comparing yourself to Twitter! When it comes to social media, people like to post their high points, not their low points. On sites like LinkedIn, people will even frame successes as low points to get likes.

It sounds like you're struggling with impostor syndrome. This is SUPER common amongst developers, especially juniors. The first step to overcoming this is to stop comparisons to others in their tracks. Redirect the comparison to your past self. Compete with yourself. You cannot set goals against others' successes and expect to see how you have achieved, because they are not you. Here is a post I like to go back to and read when I'm struggling with impostor syndrome. It's a good reminder that if you can program, you are a programmer.

Keep hanging out on DEV, seek out a solid mentor, and prove to yourself that you are capable and can do it.

Hola Erica !
Thank you for taking the time to read and write a comment. I do struggle with impostor syndrome constantly, even thought about unfollowing all tech related people on my social media just to get a relief from all their great work. But as you said, I need to focus on myself and competing with my past self only. Again, thank your reading 🙏🏼
