ELO: The Smart Border Solution for UK-France Trade

Image description
Automating Logistics for a Frictionless Future
Starting April 1, 2025, the Obligatory Logistics Envelope (ELO) will revolutionize UK-France trade logistics. Designed for automation, it consolidates customs and logistics data into a single barcode. By September 1, 2025, ELO compliance will be mandatory for all truck movements.

How Does ELO Work?

ELO provides a unified digital reference for customs declarations and logistics data, ensuring error-free cross-border movement. Here’s what makes it powerful:

🔹 One Truck, One ELO – Each truck (loaded or empty) gets a unique ELO, eliminating confusion.
🔹 Barcode-Driven Logistics – Drivers simply scan a unified barcode instead of handling multiple documents.
🔹 Automated Data Validation – Ensures customs declarations are correctly submitted before crossing.
🔹 Integration with ICS2 – During the transition (April–September 2025), traders must submit their ENS via ICS2.

Who Needs to Act?

Drivers – Must use the ELO-linked barcode for border crossings.
Economic Operators – Need to adapt their systems for compliance.
ELO Managers – Will oversee ELO creation via the Prodouane platform.

Why It Matters for Tech & Logistics Professionals

With automation and digital transformation at its core, ELO streamlines operations and reduces manual errors. If you're working on supply chain tech, logistics automation, or customs integration, this is a system to watch.
