UK to Eliminate 999L Code from Export Declarations—What It Means for Compliance

🚨 Big Change for UK Exporters

As of January 31, 2025, the 999L waiver code will no longer be accepted in UK export declarations. This was a temporary fix during the transition from CHIEF to CDS, but now, HMRC is enforcing compliance with new national waiver codes.

❌ What Happens If You Use 999L?

Declarations containing 999L will be rejected, leading to delays, fines, and potential disruptions at the border.

✅ What to Use Instead?

HMRC has introduced ten national waiver codes to replace 999L, including:
🔹 912Y – Animal Health Certificate
🔹 9020, 9026, 9044 – Firearms & Ammunition Licensing
🔹 9043 – GB Transfer Approval for Explosives
🔹 920Y – HMI Conformity Certificate (fruit & veg)
🔹 991Y–994Y – Quarantine Release Certificates
