No social media in the mornings - Day 5

Fifth day entry for my no social media in the morning journal. In case you want to know more about the inspiration for this entries, please check out what would your life be without social media in the morning.

First time reading? Welcome!

As a friendly reminder, my main goal is to inspire and motivate you by example.

Let's continue the journey!

Day 5

  1. Turning off the alarm. ⏰
Alarm on a Saturday Morning? Yep, not as early as my weekdays but I have one. I had to get up early to get a haircut. My long golden locks bother me as they get longer.

This morning I was so tired that my wife got up to turn off my alarm instead. So no touching the phone. Easy win :)

  2. Drive to barbershop πŸ’ˆ
I touched my phone to some play music. But it was Saturday, and my old habits knew this. I was very tempted to check social media.

    "It's Satuday, give yourself a break!" - I thought.

Nah. In order to about temptation, I left my phone in the car. My entire family was with me anyway. I didn't need my phone with me.

I'm glad I left it in the car. I got into some great conversations with my barber. I did very little talking and just listened to what they all had to talk about: basketball, baseball, and life in general.

  3. Strawberry picking πŸ“
Next stop was strawberry picking at a local farm. I took the phone in order to take pictures and video.

After a few pictures and a minute of recording, I decided to put the phone away and enjoy the moment by picking some strawberries myself. Seeing my kids and having those memories embedded in my head are priceless.

  4. Farmers market πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ
Final stop was the farmers market. We went to pick some plants and flowers for our house. We've been meaning to start a small garden of sorts for inside the house and out in the deck. 🏑🌷

The place was filled with many people doing their shopping. The plants and flowers were beautiful and plenty to pick from.

The warmth and well-nature of the sellers always puts a smile on my face. It beats the cold and indifferent vibe of the supermarkets. Or at least that's my perception because I grew up going to the farmers market and enjoyed interacting with people I meet.

We've got some nice plants for the house and some ideas on what to buy next time.

  5. During the drives πŸš—
As I was driving us around the area, I noticed nature. I was paying attention to the trees, pines and the flowers blooming all over. 🌳🌼

Today was a great sunny day with clear blue skies. It warm but not hot with a cooling breeze. Perfect spring weather.

I couldn't help but be present in the moment. All my problems and worries from my previous day vanished.

Even after taking a wrong turn home, it couldn't upset me. I took it as an opportunity to drive thru some parks I didn't even know existing in my city. I love accidental exploring.

First time checking social media

  • Twitter: 2:45pm
  • Email: 2:30pm
  • Dev.to: 2:30pm
  • Crypto currency: 2:30pm

Only time I check was right before early dinner time. I saw the world was still there and continued to enjoy the rest of the day with my family.

Conclusion

Today turned out to be way better than expected. We had very little planned and it turned out to be a well-spend morning. I'd say the entire day.

It was great staying away from social media (and phone in general) and the computer.

To be honest, I'd not be in a computer right now if I didn't have to write this article. It's OK, I'm glad to share this with you.

Now my question is: can you get sick from eating too many strawberries? πŸ“πŸ€”

And most importantly, what would your journey say? πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading. Till tomorrow!
