Introducing Sentinel-43: A Cybersecurity Project I'm Building

Hey everyone!

I'm an independent developer working on a cybersecurity project called Sentinel-43 (S43), and I wanted to introduce it to the community.

I'm still learning software development and cybersecurity as I go, and this project has become one of the ways I'm putting that knowledge into practice.

What is Sentinel-43?

In simple terms, Sentinel-43 is a security monitoring and threat detection system designed to help people understand what's happening on their computers and networks.

Think of it like a security guard for your computer or network.

Instead of just checking whether something is dangerous, Sentinel-43 is being designed to observe activity, recognize suspicious behavior, collect evidence, and help users understand potential threats.

What makes it different?

I'm building it around a few principles:

  • Monitoring: Observe system and network activity to help identify suspicious behavior.
  • Threat detection: Use different detection methods to recognize potentially malicious activity.
  • Centralized control: Security decisions are governed through one central authority rather than allowing individual detection components to act independently.
  • Human oversight: Important security actions are subject to safeguards and authorization.
  • Transparency: Help users understand why something was flagged rather than simply declaring it dangerous.

Where is the project right now?

Sentinel-43 is still under active development. I've been working on its security architecture, detection capabilities, authentication, monitoring, and deployment.

My goal is to make it reliable enough for broader testing and eventually gather feedback from people who understand cybersecurity better than I do.

I'm not claiming it replaces established cybersecurity products, and I'm certainly not claiming it's perfect.

Why am I sharing it?

Because I want to learn.

I believe one of the best ways to improve a project is to let other people question its design, identify weaknesses, and suggest better approaches.

I'm particularly interested in constructive feedback about:

  • Security architecture
  • Threat detection
  • Usability for beginners
  • Potential weaknesses or overlooked risks
  • Features that would actually be useful

You don't need to be an expert to ask questions or offer ideas.

I'm sharing this to introduce the project, learn from the community, and hopefully have some productive conversations.

Thanks for reading!
