Creating and Managing Tokens with KALP Studio's Token Studio

Tokenisation is the cornerstone of modern decentralised applications (dApps), enabling the creation of assets, rights, and identities on the blockchain. With KALP Studio's Token Studio, managing tokens becomes intuitive and streamlined, perfect for beginners and seasoned blockchain developers. In this blog post, we'll guide you through creating and managing tokens using Token Studio.

What is KALP Studio's Token Studio?

KALP Studio’s Token Studio is a comprehensive platform simplifies token creation and management. Whether you need to build ERC-20 tokens for a DeFi project or custom tokens for a blockchain game, Token Studio offers a user-friendly interface and robust features.

Key Features

  • No-code Token Creation: Design tokens without writing a single line of code.
  • Customisable Standards: Supports ERC-20, ERC-721 (NFTs), and ERC-1155 standards.
  • Integrated Deployment: Deploy your tokens directly to Ethereum, Polygon, and the KALP DLT.
  • Built-in Management Tools: Manage token supply, transfers, and access rights through an intuitive dashboard.

Prerequisites

Before we explore the KS Token Studio, ensure that you have the following:

  • KALP Studio account. Create your account here if you don’t have one yet.
  • Connected Wallet. To ensure you can create a token, you must have a wallet connected to your KALP Studio Dashboard. For this tutorial, we will be using the Custodial Ethereum Wallet, take a look at our previous tutorial to see how to create one: Creating your Custodial Ethereum Wallet on Holesky Network, using Kalp Studio.
  • Subscribe to the KS Token Studio plan. To know more about the subscriptions available for the Token Studio, check out the official documentation.

Now that we have all the basic requirements, it’s time to dive into the Token Studio and create our first-ever token.

Navigating the Token Studio

Once you have subscribed to the Token Studio plan, on the KALP Studio dashboard, click on the Explore button in the Token Studio card.

Dashboard

Next, you will be redirected to the Token Studio dashboard, where your deployed tokens will be listed. Click on Create New Token. This will take you to the Token Creation Wizard, where you’ll set the details and characteristics of your token.

Token Studio Dashboard

The Token Creation Wizard provides fields for you to define the fundamental attributes of your token:

  • Name: Enter the name of your token (e.g., “MyToken”).
  • Symbol: Set the token symbol, a short code representing your token (up to 10 characters).
  • Decimals: Specify the decimal places (precision) for your token.
  • Description: Provide a brief description to clarify the purpose of your token.
  • Icon Image: Upload an icon to represent your token. Recommended format: JPG/PNG, up to 2MB, and a resolution of 700x500 pixels.
  • Token Initial Supply: Set the initial supply, which is the number of tokens created when the contract is deployed.
  • Token Maximum Supply: Define the maximum supply limit if applicable (leave blank for an unlimited supply).
  • Owner (Wallet Address): Input the owner’s wallet address to hold the initial token supply and control token management features.

Token Form

Kalp Studio’s Token Studio offers several optional features to enhance token functionality:

  • Burnable: Enables the option to burn (destroy) tokens, reducing the total supply.
  • Pausable: Allows the owner to pause all token transactions in case of emergencies.

Toggle these options as per your token’s requirements.

Once you have filled in the required details, click the Create Token button.

Finalise Create Token

After cross-checking your details, click on continue and wait for a few seconds.

After successfully creating your token, navigate to List of Token Created in the sidebar. Here, you can view details of all the tokens you've created and manage them as needed.

Managing Tokens with Token Studio

1. Monitoring Token Activity
Token Studio provides an overview of token activity, including:

  • Total supply and circulating supply.
  • Transaction history.
  • Holder distribution.

2. Updating Token Configurations

From the management dashboard:

  • Adjust minting/burning permissions.
  • Pause token transfers during emergencies.
  • Modify access control settings.

3. Integrating Tokens into Applications

  • Use the generated smart contract address to integrate your token into wallets or dApps.
  • Export API keys from Token Studio to facilitate seamless integration.

4. Token Analytics

Token Studio offers analytics to track:

  • Token usage trends.
  • Market cap and liquidity (if listed).
  • User engagement metrics for NFTs.

Best Practices for Token Management

  • Secure Your Wallet: Use a hardware wallet for managing high-value tokens or administrative controls.
  • Test Deployments: Use a test network (e.g., Ropsten or Mumbai) before deploying to the mainnet.
  • Monitor Gas Fees: Deploy and manage tokens during low network activity to minimize costs.
  • Audit Smart Contracts: While Token Studio ensures compliance with token standards, always perform independent audits for high-stakes projects.
