I Built a Minimal Android Task Manager Because Most To-Do Apps Felt Too Complicated

Keeping track of daily tasks should be simple.

Over the past few years, I tried many productivity apps. While they all offered powerful features, I often found myself spending more time organizing tasks than actually completing them. Projects, workspaces, labels, nested lists, recurring settings, and endless customization made the experience feel heavier than I wanted for everyday use.

So I decided to build something for myself.

Over the last few months, I developed an Android task manager focused on one goal: Capture tasks quickly and get back to what matters.

What I wanted from a task app

My priorities were surprisingly simple:

  • Create a task in just a few taps
  • Keep the interface clean and distraction-free
  • Stay fast, even with many tasks
  • Make it suitable for everyday personal planning
  • Avoid unnecessary complexity

Instead of trying to compete with feature-heavy productivity suites, I wanted something that felt lightweight and pleasant to use.

Building the app

During development, I spent a lot of time refining the small details:

  • Simplifying the task creation flow
  • Improving readability with a clean interface
  • Optimizing performance for smooth interactions
  • Making the experience feel intuitive from the first launch

It reminded me that great productivity apps aren't always about adding more features, they're often about removing friction.

What I learned

Building an app is only half the journey.

The other half is learning from real users.

There are always features that seem essential during development but turn out to be rarely used. Likewise, users often request improvements you hadn't considered. That's one of the reasons I'm excited to share this app publicly.

I'd love your feedback

If you're someone who relies on daily task lists, I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts.

What features do you consider essential in a task management app?

What usually makes you uninstall one?

Thanks for reading! I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions and continuing to improve the app based on real-world feedback.
