Why I Refused to Put a “Book a Demo” Button on Kilawatt Cloud

Most GPU cloud platforms want you to talk to sales before you can actually use them. Fill out a form, wait for a callback, sit through a demo, then maybe get access. If you’re a five-person AI lab trying to ship something this week, that entire process is dead weight.

Kilawatt Cloud has no sales call. Fund a wallet, deploy, you’re running. That’s the whole flow.

Here’s why that choice matters, not just as a convenience, but as a real bet on where the next wave of compute demand is actually coming from.

Small teams don’t have a procurement department. A solo builder or a five-person lab doesn’t have someone whose job is to sit through vendor calls and negotiate contracts. Every hour spent in a sales process is an hour not spent building. Self-serve respects that reality instead of treating it as an inconvenience to route around.

Friction compounds at exactly the wrong moment. If you need a GPU right now, because a deadline is tomorrow, because a client is waiting, a sales gate doesn’t just cost you time, it costs you the actual moment the need was real. By the time the callback happens, the urgency has often passed.

Self-serve forces a platform to be honest. When there’s no salesperson to smooth things over, the product itself has to work. Pricing has to be clear upfront. There’s nowhere to hide behind a good pitch if the deploy button doesn’t actually work.

Here’s the bet underneath all of it. The next wave of compute demand isn’t going to be a person filling out a lead form. It’s going to be an AI agent deciding, mid-task, that it needs a GPU right now, and either getting it or stalling out. That’s not a hypothetical, it’s already happening, MCP adoption alone went from roughly 100,000 downloads to 97 million in sixteen months. A sales gate is fundamentally incompatible with that future. An agent can’t sit through a demo call.

We built Kilawatt to be usable by a human with no friction today, and by an autonomous system with zero friction tomorrow. That’s not two separate features, it’s the same decision, remove every unnecessary human checkpoint between “need compute” and “have compute.” Every platform still requiring a sales conversation is building for a world that’s already starting to change underneath them.

None of this means real conversations never have value, for genuinely large, custom deals, a human touch makes sense. But that should be the exception, not the default gate every builder, or every agent, has to pass through just to run a GPU.

Kilawatt Cloud is live now, self-serve from the first click, and built for a future where the person asking for compute might not be a person at all. If you’ve been stuck waiting on a callback just to get compute, I’d like to hear about it.
