I agree with you, best practices are there because have been synthetized from years of experience so they cover a big chunk of scenarios you will see (Like design patterns). You should not have in mind best practices to build stuff but to have some smart quick way of doing it, when building something you should have in mind some key points that would indeed ease your work (for the future ofc)
